so not being Canadian, I had to look it up and I’m sure the local sacrifices are enormous. A high speed railroad isn’t something that can be realized otherwise. the curves can’t be tight and the rail must be even so not many things can be avoided and a lot of existing features, be it homes, farms or nature must make way for it to be doable.
that said and me being a person with no stake in it what so ever, I do think linking Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City is a smart move for the future, businesswise.
Those are the ONLY city’s in Canada I’ve ever heard about as an European, so they must be important đ (little joke)
Having a Highspeed connection between two city’s in practice means they can function as one economic sphere, boosting office jobs/money/stability and lures investors and companies.
Still, when its your family home that has to be demolished it’s all irrelevant. therefore I wish you the best in the struggle, and should you be effected, I’ll hope the compensation is plentiful since the economic benefits supposedly are too.
